In letters to his wife, Anna, chiefly 1861-1864, Morgan discusses the death of George Harris, the first Battle of Manassas, and his weariness over the length of the war. A letter to Anna Morgan from Daniel Henry Morgan in the Prisoner's Camp, Point Lookout, 1863 October 8, states that he has received the box sent from home, and that there is little hope of exchange. Letters to Morgan, 1866-1889, from Jubal A. Early, Fitzhugh Lee, Robert E. Lee, John Letcher, Thomas Munford, George L. Peyton, and Thomas L. Rosser, concern business; a Confederate reunion; the exchange of photographs and letters; Minneapolis, Minn., in 1884; the Virginia Hotel, Staunton, Va.; and an attack on Thomas L. Rosser by Jubal Early in the Richmond "State." With the correspondence is a pre-addressed printed envelope for Richardson's American & Foreign Newspaper Advertising House.

Robert Edward Lee (1807-1870) served as General of the Confederate Army in the U.S. Civil War and was president of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia from 1865 to 1870.
